Deep Tissue Massage uses slow long strokes of firm pressure to treat deep laying problems in muscles.
A technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body, flowing with the direction of muscle fibers or cross fiber manipulation of the muscles, fascia and tendons.
When muscles are stressed though physical or mental and emotional disturbances they can lock up. Blocking oxygen and nutrients flowing to the muscle fibers as well as holding onto toxins and waste being able to be released from the tissue.
Knots can form which can be both painful and reduce the effiency of the muscle working properly, leading to reduced range of movement.
A deep tissue massage helps to loosen the muscle tissue, break down knots, thereby restoring blood circulation, freeing the natural flow of oxygen and nutrition into the muscles and toxins and waist out.
The treatment may feel as though muscles have become ‘unstuck’ from a previously tightened state that may have resulted in a restriction of movement or tension in areas.
Areas such as upper back and shoulders can often lead to a general feeling of tightness in the body, cause neck pain and headaches.
A deep tissue treatment can help to break down the blockages, knots and tightness in the body, which then helps the whole body feel well again.
Please note, due to the toxins released during a deep tissue massage, it is imperative to drink plenty of water following a treatment to help flush these from your body.
Some clients experience a sense of ‘floating’ after a treatment, due to long standing tightness in their body has finally been released.
